Salesforce.com, Twitter and @anywhere - Story From: Recent Ideas

In case you missed it, Twitter announced a new set of web frameworks today called @anywhere. @anywhere makes it easy to add the Twitter experience anywhere on the Web simply by adding a few lines of javascript to your Web page, hence the name “@anywhere.” @anywhere includes:

  • Single sign-on & registration for ease of use and customer acquisition
  • Automatic detection and linking of Twitter users on your webpage
  • Widgets for inline following, unfollowing, retweeting, etc of particular users
  • Inline tweeting/conversations

Evan Williams, Twitter’s CEO, announced @anywhere today at SXSW. He also announced 13 companies who plan on using these APIs including salesforce.com, Amazon, eBay, Youtube, Yahoo, and a few others. Here at salesforce.com, we’re all excited about this announcement, and are combing through the endless possibilities this has for our customers and products. If you have an idea as to how you’d like to see @anywhere used within salesforce.com, let us know!
