5 Question Friday: Derek Solomon - Story From: Infusionsoft Blog
This week’s 5 Question Friday is about one of our passionate account managers, Derek Solomon. Derek wows customers with his empathetic, caring and genuine customer service. When he’s not handling customer service matters, he’s outdoors and loves to have fun in the beautiful (and hot) Arizona weather. I invited him to do a quick email interview and I’ll share his answers to five questions I’ve asked with you.
What attracted you to work for Infusionsoft?
To be honest, I was a little apprehensive returning to the corporate world after being my own boss for the past seven years. I was immediately drawn to the culture of Infusionsoft and specifically the core values that company lives, eats and breathes. I love the spirit of entrepreneurship, which is so prevalent here!
How do you help small business owners?
Customers I talk with are often struggling and frustrated with their business. I help them to see how Infusionsoft can be a total solution to those struggles, and help them focus on the specific path that will make them successful. At a much more narrow level, I listen to people’s concerns, help them with Infusionsoft or connect with the right people to help drive results in their business. At the end of the day, I’m a problem solver – and that’s what I love!
What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work?
I enjoy the outdoors and the amazing Arizona weather (when it’s below 100 degrees). If it involves being active and a little competition then I’m game. I’ve also been blessed with two beautiful kids that keep me busy and help me keep my focus and what matters most.
What makes you come into work every day with such a great attitude?
Simple! I love what I do and the team I work with. I enjoy challenges and finding solutions to them. When I wake up, it’s game time. I know there are countless ways to be negative and cynical and I do my part to rise above and provide solutions for people. In this depressed economy, it’s more important than ever entrepreneurs find their passion and grow with it.
What are some favorite books that you’ve read that inspire you?
Reading has always been a big part of my life. Thanks to my parents, I developed a love for reading at a young age. The books I enjoy reading most at this point in my life are the ones dealing with overcoming adversity and rising above it. Two that come to mind are Lance Armstrong’s It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life and Josh Hamilton’s Beyond Belief: Finding The Strength To Come Back. Since small business and entrepreneurship have also been a big part of my life, I enjoy reading books that will continue to help me improve and see things from others perspectives. One of my favorite new books is Conquer the Chaos: How to Grow a Successful Small Business Without Going Crazy.
